During the Feast of Saint Thomas Aquino, the Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez University of Elche (UMH) conferred journalist, Ram\u00f3n Lobo Leyder, with the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa. Jos\u00e9 Luis Gonz\u00e1lez, a UMH associate professor from the area of Journalism, sponsored the new Doctor. In the ceremony, the Gold Medal was also presented to professor and former rector of the UMH, Jes\u00fas Pastor Ciurana; fifty-three new PhD\u2019s were recognized, and six Extraordinary Doctorate Awards were announced.<\/p>\n

Presiding over the event were UMH rector, Juan Jos\u00e9 Ruiz; rector of the University of Alicante, Manuel Palomar; UMH Board of Trustees president, Joaqu\u00edn P\u00e9rez V\u00e1zquez; UMH Vice Rector for Research, Domingo Orozco Beltr\u00e1n; and UMH Registrar, Mercedes S\u00e1nchez Castillo. Attendants at the ceremony included, among others, the mayor of Elche, Carlos Gonz\u00e1lez, and the Director General of Universities, Pilar Ezpeleta.<\/p>\n

With this act, the UMH aims to commemorate the career path of journalist and writer, Ram\u00f3n Lobo, who has collaborated in various forms of media, including El Pa\u00eds<\/em>, Expansi\u00f3n<\/em>, Cinco D\u00edas, <\/em>and La Gaceta de los Negocios<\/em>. Currently, Lobo also collaborates with InfoLibre<\/em> and El Peri\u00f3dico<\/em>. Likewise, he is a participant on the A vivir que son dos d\u00edas<\/em> radio program at Cadena SER<\/em>, and since October 2014, Lobo has published interviews on El Diario.es,<\/em> specifically in its Tipos Inquietantes section.<\/p>\n
