The Vice Rectorate for Research and Innovation at the Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez University of Elche (UMH) and the Service of Research Management – TTO have prepared the 2015 Research Report. Funding obtained by the UMH last year grew to 11,783,187.19 euros, some 20% more than in 2014. Of the 11,783,187.19 euros obtained by UMH researchers in 2015, (http:\/\/universite.umh.es\/memoinvest\/2015\/resultados.html<\/a>), 8,628,504.41 came from competitive R&D, 2,148,979.72 correspond to contracted R&D from both public and private entities, and the remaining 1,005,703.06 correspond to research grants.<\/p>\n

In 2015, 11 patents were applied for, 193 doctoral theses were defended, and more than 1,200 scientific papers were published in national and international journals.<\/p>\n

The increase in research funding (around 20% with respect to 2014) is mainly due to a rise in acquiring competitive R&D, which was practically double that obtained the previous year.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the increased number of doctoral theses defended in 2015 is significant, as it represents a 40% increase. In 2014, there were 137 theses defended, and in 2015 this number grew to 193.<\/p>\n
