Entrance Examination Bank offers 417 corrected exams
The Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) is offering society the University Entrance Examination Bank blog, which is a repository with 417 videos of corrected Spanish University Entrance Examinations (PAU) from 2013 – 2021. In addition to examinations, this blog also provides information on grading criteria, frequently asked questions, plus advice on how to successfully prepare for the PAU. This project, a pioneer in Spain, was launched in 2014, and it can be consulted at http://bancdelaselectivitat.edu.umh.es/.
The University Entrance Examination Bank aims to be a simple, direct, and effective tool for students who plan on sitting for these exams. On the blog, students can follow systematic explanations to correctly answer questions and problems that were included in previous editions of these exams. The exam bank is found on the UMH YouTube channel (www.youtube.umh.es), and it enables free and immediate access to the 417 videos that strive to resolve doubts and hone arguments for answering the various questions.
To date, the bank has tallied close to 3 million views, and its users have spent 115,000 hours watching the videos from various subjects. These data represent an increase of 25% in video views and an increase of 17% in total hours viewed with respect to the same data for the previous 2021 exam. Since May 2021, there have been more than 600,000 video views and 17,000 hours of viewing.
The videos were made between June 2013 and September 2021 by faculty specialized on the various subjects that make up the university entrance examinations for the ordinary and extraordinary testing periods within the Valencian Community. As for the locations taking advantage of the Examination Bank, more than 90% of them originate within Spain, and besides the Valencian Community, the communities of Madrid and Catalonia are well represented. Among large metro areas, the city of Valencia stands out, with almost 275,000 entries; it is then followed by Alicante (241,000), Madrid (196,000), Barcelona (111,000), and Elche (103,000).
The ordinary call for the upcoming 2022 University Entrance Examinations is taking place June 7 – 9. The UMH is anticipating some 4,300 students to sit for them, and their exams will then be graded by 11 examining committees that are comprised of around 250 instructors, who are both faculty from universities and high schools assigned to the UMH. The examining committees are distributed throughout the Province of Alicante and located in Altea, Benissa, Dènia, Elche (3 committees), La Nucia, Orihuela (2 committees), Sant Joan d’Alacant, and Torrevieja.
